So I went for a ski trip last weekend with Erin and Kenneth. What a time. Driving up in my tiny little car was fun, despite her (my car) not liking hills in the slightest. We listened to the star wars radio play (well, the firstr tape) and there was much fun, except when I forgot I was driving, thought i was flying a hopper, and tried to fly the stone needle in my nissan pulsar.
When we got to the snow, I tried to employ the deep end method of teaching Kenneth and Erin how to ski. Kenneth, who cant be trusted, took to it suprisingly well, he picked up parallel skiing on his first run, and what's more, he picked up this advanced technique going backwards! He made it half way down the slope before a snow drift caught up with him, bringing his impromptu display of gravity to a rather sudden and amusing halt. Then he got up and did it again, but this time forwards.

It's been a while since I last made a proper post, so I'll do an update.

The soccer team has been going downhill. We had our two hardest games of the comp on a couple of double headers, and lost both of them, dropping us from second to fifth, and losing us our best defence in the comp title. I find myself a lot less commited to tackles these days, and I need to figure out whats wrong so I can get back on my game. We're at least back to fourth now, hopefully even up to third. I'll be very disappointed if we dont make it into the RonDine cup, cause we deserved it for the first half of the season, even if we dont for the second.

I'm horribly in love with Erin, complete with the renewed fear that she'll leave me. Which is better than the thought of me worrying I wont be able to commit to her, which with a few of my last relationships has become a small concern. Although only when I dont think about it hard enough.
I mean jeez, I had one relationship that only lasted a month, and one that lasted two years, and people are suprised when i'm still going out with a girl after only three months. It's a little insulting, when they make it sound like they think I have commitment issues. I *totally* dont. I have lots of other issues, sure, but commitment atent one of them.

I'm starting to enjoy writing again, which I havent done for a while. Unfortuantely it's coming at the expense of my drawing, which hasnt happened for a week or two. But my inspiration for drawing is a very temperate thing, and when I do get inspired, neither hell nor high water will keep me from it, I'm sure. A lack of a pencil, on the other hand, could pose a problem.

My carpets are very clean, and I have new jeans. And some authentic japanese katana made in china [/sarcasm](a guys gotta start somewhere, I still think they're cool) And I'm procrastinating. Thats about it.

I'm procrastinating from doing a paper on procrastination. Seriously. I wouldnt believe me either, but it's true.

I realised yesterday that running into exes is weord.

I ran into Amy yesterday, only the second time I've seen her since I broke up with her about *thinks* six, seven months ago. Now, the first time I ran into her post-break, she was with some of her friends, one of which went "Ooh this is awkward". I felt like decking the guy and saying "well it is now you arsehole". Because after that, it was, I beat a rather hasty retreat, then forgot about it cause the whitlams started playing.

So yesterday, the second time I've seen her, and I'm slightly worried it's going to be awkward again. I dont want it to be, as just because I didnt want to date her, didnt mean I didnt like her. But then I thought; What if by not acting awkward I make her feel like the relationship meant nothing to me.

A digression: Awkwardness (in this regard) I think, at least with me, is due to the unintentional recall of feelings brought on by seeing the person again. Spontaneous Recovery, if you're a behaviourist. Even if you stopped liking someone, some residual feelings are bound to be remembered when you see them again, and as you are no longer dating these feelings are less than appropriate, so theres inner conflict => awkwardness.

So if theres no awkwardness, I feel bad, because it might cause the ex to think that the time spent meant nothing to me, which I dont want them to think. So my awkwardness comes not from residual feelings causing conflict, but the conflict between wanting to be cool with the person, and yet not wanting them to feel like they were nothing to me.

I hate when these little thoughts end up having no logical progression. *sighs* Another step on the road to self-actualisation :)

Goddamn Harry

I loved the book. As I keep telling people, it's like a soap-opera in magic land, which is so cool. Ginny + Harry is so incredibly cute, as are, as expected, Ron and Hermione. I loved the way Rowling described Ron's relationship with Lav, and the way he came up for air when he found out Hermione was going to some party thing with someone else. Comedy GOLD.

I think Snapes god-dang nasty evil, despite what all these naieve people on the net are saying. He killed Dumbledore people. That's not something a nice person would do. Speaking of Dumbledore buying the farm, I loved the way Draco was treated, throughout the entire book. You hardly ever saw him, which was great, it meant the rest of the book was more about the good guys relationships with each other than their reactions to what the bad guys were doing.

But if you think Harry is a Horcrux, get out of my livejournal, I dont want to hear it. I understand its a nice easy leap of logic to make, but it's too easy. It's too obvious.

Since I'm having this argument as I write this, I'll present all my theories and evidence that Harry is not a Horcrux.

Arguments:
1)If someone's gonna kill you, make it so you cant die as long as they're alive
2)Works oh so well with the prophecy.
3)He didnt try to kill Lily, because he already had his murder tally up to split his soul
4)He has never tried to kill Harry, just hurt him and made it look like he wants him dead
5)He wont let Death Eaters kill Harry (because his soul is in there)
Why I think it's bollox:
1)Voldemort may not place a high value on his own soul, splitting it seven times, but he is not likely to waste a piece of soul on a child he is trying to kill that very minute. He put his soul into extremely important artifacts, things that he thought would be extremely long lasting, even if they were found, people would be unlikely to destroy them because of their heritage. Putting a piece of his soul into Harry would be a waste.
2)God, talk about a red-herring. It's way too obvious. The theory fits with the prophecy, but doesnt fulfil it. It also doesnt account for Harry being able to kill Voldemort. The prophecy says that he has the power to defeat Voldemort, and if he's a horcrux, then that isnt the case.
3)I got nothing for this. Maybe he knew her from the Slug club, or maybe he just didnt think her important. I think more likely the latter.
4)He tried to kill Harry in Goblet of fire. He aimed a killing curse at him. Harry would have been killed were it not for the fact their wands had the same core. Also, if Harry had been made a horcrux the night his family died, this would have shown up when the two wands collided, with priori incantantum.
5)"...either must die at the hand of the other..." Theres the prophecy. Death Eaters cant kill Harry, Voldemort has to do it.

My theory is that Dumbledore is a Horcrux. I think it's far more likely. Voldemort thought that while he couldnt be killed by Dumbledore, he would still be a major stumbling block, his biggest adversary, especially since he didnt expect harry to survive his first year of life. I think that's why Voldemort went to the school to ask for a job, to complete the spell on Dumbledore. He knew he wasnt going to get the job, he must have had some reason to go to Hogwarts.

Draco was ordered to kill Dumbledore, sure. But I think, even if his soul was in Dumbledore, voldemort would consider that a nessesary sacrifice. If he could EVER kill dumbledore, he would take the chance. That's why he would have made him a horcrux, as backup. Now he has a clear shot at Harry and the rest of the world.

People have said that RAB is Regulus Black or something. *shrugs* regardless, I'm considering the thought that whoever it was made it assuming that Dumbledore would be the only one to get to the cave, and was trying to kill him, to get rid of one of Vs horcruxes.

I also really hope that Snape is still evil by the end of the next book, I'll be terribly disappointed if he isnt. I think his fall was the best bit of Half-Blood Prince, and seeing as he was what the title was talking about, I'd say his fall is incredibly important, and Rowling wont cheapen it by going back on his character again and making him good.

Isnt procrastination a wonderful thing? I havent written anything in aaaages, and yet tonight, only a little bit inspired by what Catherine and Heidi wrote, I added to Domus Prime. And, at least as far as *I* think, it's not half bad.

It's nothing stellar, of course, but it's something. And I think I actually kept the dialogue a little bit in character, which is something I rememeber always having lots of trouble with.

Like my typing at the moment. It's sucking like a blaxland road red light girl. Good thing I'm pedantic, or you'd have no idea what I was saying. Not that anyone who doesnt live in campbelltown will with that last line anyway. *shrugs*

So, if you actually know what DP is, it'd be cool if you read it and give me some *honest* feedback. Something I dont think I got when I first starting adding to it, at least not from everyone. (Can you tell I'm a little bitter? It's really annoying when people you trust tell you years after the fact that your writing sucks, when at the time they said it was fine. And then resist every attempt you make to make things right.)

A-nee-hoo. I'm off to bed, sleepy I am. If not careful, like Yoda I will start talking hmmn?

So, Jen pointed out that I havent posted in a while, so now I need to find something to talk about.

In my life... nothing new. I'm still smitten with Erin, I'm still best defence in the local soccer comp, and I'm still trying to get people to pick fights so they get carded.

I was in the car last night, listening to my iPod on the long drive home from meadowbank, and the music stopped. Damn battery. Anyhoo, I dont know what got me thinking about it but I realised that with musicians, unless they write, play and sing at least some of their own music, I dont consider them the least bit talented. I've always kind of known this, I know I'm a bit of a music snob, but I dont usually pay that much attention to it unless I'm bagging out pop music.

So I thought about it a little more, and realised that these teen idols (or at least those few that can actually hold a note) are, at least a little bit, talented. More talented than me at least. They can sing. So should this be something I admire? At the moment, I'm thinking no. My reasoning goes this; Good singers are generally labelled as such by the quality of their voice. This is something that they have no control over, it's merely a physical set of circumstances which yes, can be trained, but if you dont have the voice to begin with, you wont be able to train it into you.

So why should we admire these people for a physical ability they had very little control over? Sure, I can be jealous of them, but I see no reason to admire them. And most of them (pop singers I'm talkin bout) certainly dont give me anything else to admire them for. So what's the point of this little journal entry? I realised that I can keep the same opinion that I've always had. So the point of the entry is... Jen has something to read. Yay!

Yeeeha! Best defence in the soccer comp! I like to think in a large part (about 33% at least) due to me.

What an awesome sport soccer is. I made someone get a yellow card on the weekend. It was great.

So this guy was a bit of a dick. Slow and stocky, so he could beat me on the ball, but if there was any chance for me to intercept it was pretty much gone. And if it was an equal chance between the two of us, I'm faster, so I'd beat him. Of course, he didnt like this, so he did what he could to give himself an advantage, mainly palming me off. Unlucky for him, my legs are longer than his arms, and I tripped him up.

So he gets to his feet and shoves me. I'm all like "Awesome, this is my chance" so I start backing up, so it looks to the ref like I'm trying to avoid a conflict, but telling the guy at the same time to have another go. And the stupid fat moron did. Good work, dumbass. Talk about playing into my hands. Lesson 1 in football; if someone on the opposite team tells you to do something, it's probably not the best idea. Dumbass.

But I'm not that happy with it. Next time I play against an idiot like that, I'm gonna try and get him a red :)

I hate people that withhold their number when they ring me. It shits me. Why the need for secrecy? I mean, I dont mind not knowing who it is when I answer my home phone, that's not the issue, it's that the person ringing felt obliged to hide who they are from me, even though they're ringing me. Jerks. Unless I'm expecting a call from a business, like when my cars getting mechanic-ised, from now on I'm gonna ignore people that withhold their number. That'll learn em.

I agree, it was heaps better than the last two. But the main reason for that is that it had a point to it. The problem with Episode I is that the things that happen dont matter, at least in terms of the movie. It's like "Ooh, aah, a countries being taxed" and "Oh no, a single slave on a planet full of them is being freed". Sure you know they're going to be important, but in terms of the movie, they're basically non-events.

Episode II the greatest problem was the love. Be it because of the dialogue or just a lack of chemistry between Natalie and Hayden, all of the love scenes turned out cheesy and stunted. Also, there was no growth. There was no dealing with the issues. Anakin killed sand people and he got hugged. Padme couldnt marry a jedi despite her bodice, and then she can. They seem to have resolved this important internal conflicts without bothering to tell the audience.

Now, Episode III you see the conflicts, and you see the characters deal with them. Anakin feels annoyed, and he talks to Obi-Wan, who pacifies him. Padme feels confused, so she does what a confused person would do. The love dialogue is still rubbish, so it's fortunate that there isnt much of it, but the one scene with the two of them that isnt all "You're fucking awesome" *swoon* finally showed what the two actors (three counting ewan) are capable of, and it was powerful.

Speaking of powerful, there were lots of powerful scenes. Order 66; Oh. My God. The music capped it so perfectly, sad and noble and bitter. The younglings. Vader getting named, and his torment in the confrontation between mace windu and palpatine. Yoda realising he had failed. Darth Vader's first breath through the mask. And the most powerful by far in my opinion, not suprisingly, Obi-Wans final rant. "You were the chosen one! You were supposed to destroy the sith, not become one! You were my brother! I loved you." Goddamn that boy can act. I want to have his sexy scottish babies.

The bitter irony of Anakins dream, of course, is worth noting. He would not have turned were it not for the dream, and she would not have died if he hadnt turned. But more than that, I think Palpatine might have planted the dreams in him. He had shown interest in him from the very start, ("We will watch your career with great interest"), he knew about the dreams, and he knew exactly what buttons on anakin to press.

The one thing that really stands out as not fitting, I think, is Padme at the end saying "there is still good in him". This is, of course, nothing but a reference to Return of the Jedi, which is cool (just like having the Tantive IV. Tell you what, my Lego is made even cooler by this movie, if thats even possible. THEY HAD THE SAME HALLS! You see the exact hall that Vader comes through!) but the thing is, she shouldnt have thought that. She died because she gave up. She thought all hope was lost for the man she loved, and she wouldnt have thought this, or given up and died, if she thought there was still good in him. Especially considering she would have been the one most likely to be able to bring that good in him out.

The space battle was good. All the lightsabre duels were unbelievably good. I love Ewans cockiness when he drops down to fight greivous. In the Cartoon series, Dooku tells Greivous that he needs to have fear, indimidation and suprise when fighting jedi, or he will lose, and he has none of those things when Ewan drops down and lays the hurt into him.

It's three in the morning, and I need to sleep. But those are my thoughts on star wars. One of the best, for sure. Repeated viewings nessesary to detirmine whether it will win out over Jedi and Empire.

Fucking fuckers have already fucking capped me, and I know theres no fucking way I've reached 10 gig this month.

I figured it out, see.
The month has been going for 2 weeks.
I download 3 1 hour shows, 356mB each, every week, and I download 3 1/2 hour shows, which are about 200mB each.

Assuming I've been leeched off as much as I leech, which I know isnt the case, cause I'm a bastard like that, I would be at about 6 gig worth of downloads from the shows I watch.

And theres no way I've done 4 gigs worth of surfing in two weeks.

And what the fuck is wrong with telstra anyway. We're paying for their most expensive "unlimited" plan and after 10 gigs we get cut off! Call that unlimited? Call that fucking customer loyalty, when we've been with them for about 5 years? A fucking ripoff is what I call it.

I fucking hate telstra. I hope every single person on their board of directors suffers from explosive hemmoroids, and dies with flies feeding and breeding on their raw, chafed and blistered arseholes.

So I failed a subject today, cause I didnt hand an assignment in. It's happened a few times since I started uni, but I think it's a good thing I'm not so used to it that I dont hate the feeling. I try to console myself by thinking that I didnt understand the readings, I couldnt have done it even if I tried, but it doesnt help. I just didnt do it, and that's $3000 and a bit more of my pride down the drain.

I even stayed home from uni, to try and get the assignment due on thursday a bit closer to done. I've not written a single line of code. What the hell is wrong with me? Seriously? It's ridiculous.

So I'm listening to hack, on triplej, and they're having this duscussion about scalpers selling tickets on eBay, something I hate almost as much as the music industry bitching about piracy. Most of the people, even the scalpers, admit that it's morally wrong. But what's really really bugging me are these bastards saying these people that make it impossible for me to be able to afford to go to gigs and festivals are entrepreneurs. And frankly, thats a load of shit.

If *anyone* should be making more money off these festivals, it should be the organisers or the bands. Entrepreneurs my arse. They're getting rewarded for the extremely hard work, risks, and organisation of other people. They take no risks themselves. They're parasites.

The most annoying thing is that the people organising these festival could quite easily double the price, and chances are they would still sell out. God only knows how much Big Day Out tickets have gone up in price since I first went five years ago, and they sell out within a few weeks of going on sale, so much that last year they had an extra Sydney show. But the thing is, these organisers dont. They keep the prices relatively low, certainly lower than they have to, which means that other people are actually able to attend these festivals.

I like to think it's because these organisers, as much as the musicians, do it for the music. They're unable to make their own music, so they bring music to other people in a different way. Sure, tickets are expensive, but they have to pay for a lot of stuff. And these parasitic leeches are taking money both from the organisers and from people who just want to see music that they love.

And they keep saying "I'm doing nothing illegal". It says on the back of the fucking tickets that selling them at a profit is against the terms and conditions. And not only that, who gives a shit if it's illegal. Theres lots of things that arent illegal. That's why people are supposed to have morals.

Fucking leeches.

First Dates

I've always hated first dates. First dates where neither of you are sure how interested the other person is. Where if you're the guy, you're obligated to make the first move, even if there really isnt an opportunity. I hate that pressure.

I hated it more in high school, where the only option I ever knew for dates was going to the movies. How are you supposed to know if you want to continue dating a person if you go to a movie with them, and you cant even talk. Are you just supposed to go for it, with no warning or reason? Is there just this moment, where you go "Yup, I'm ready to make a move now" *stretch arm around*?

I hated that it was always up to the guy. It's not enough that the guy is the one that usually has to initiate dating (at least in high school), which can be really hard if you're the nervous/shy type, but once you've worked up the courage to ask the girl you've been idolizing for days, or weeks possibly if you're a long term kinda guy, you're expected to make a move on this girl whose only concession to liking you is agreeing to let you buy her a movie ticket.

I mean, the girl obviously knows you're interested, you asked her out. It's much more uncertain for whoever initiated the dating. She might have agreed because she doesnt want to offend you. She might have agreed because she likes movies. She might not have known you meant it as a date. So why can't she make a move if she's interested.

The thing I hated most about high school dating is that if you *didnt* make a move, the girl got pissed off. If theres anyone reading this entry that gets pissed off because someone didnt make a move, fuck you. Make your own damn move, or stop bitching.

But, thankfully, things change. I'm no longer in high school. Movies are no longer the only option. I am, of course, still as awkward and nervous as I ever was, but I've learned to accept that. And I just had a first date where I didnt make a move, because I didnt get a chance, and I didnt want to force it, but I came away from the date feeling it was at least a moderate success.

And that's something, you know? Meeting a girl who I dont have to make a move on, and I can just talk to, and who doesnt think we need to be sharing saliva at the end for it to be a success. I'm slightly concerned that she might think I dont like her, I dont flirt much or anything, but if she enjoyed herself, and theres a chance for a second date, I think I gotta be happy. And I am. Which is good.

Today was really tiring.

I feel sad, because Sarah and Britney are complete bitches. They told everyone I have an STD, just because I slept with both of their boyfriends on Saturday night.

I'm so hardcore. Me and Buzz went to the mall today, and I stole a whole heap of stuff. I got a Good Charlotte CD, a couple of DVDs and some new boots. Buzz got caught, but he fought his way out, and then we stole some lady's car and smashed it into a phone booth.

Last night I had to go and pay Joshua's bail. He's such a jerk. He got arrested for punching the Walmart clerk in the face for refusing to sell him beer. He's only 16!

I want to tell the world that I love you all! You're all so special to me!
